Name: Energy System Transformation: Delegation Trip to Germany (Berlin)
Date: June 19, 2017 - June 22, 2017
Event Description:

The German Government invites sustainable energy stakeholders from New York to participate in an “Energy System Transformation” delegation trip to Berlin, Germany from June 19 to 23, 2017.

New York State and New York City have established some of the most ambitious climate and energy goals in the United States. Germany is similarly pursuing an energy transition path with an intended reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by up to 95% and a share of renewable energy of 60% by 2050.

The Federal Government of Germany is eager to enhance this transatlantic energy cooperation by bringing together policy-makers, entrepreneurs, and energy experts in both countries.

As a first step, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) is inviting a delegation from New York State to Germany this summer for five days of exchanges on a range of topics.

The US delegation will be given the opportunity to learn more about German energy policies, meet relevant stakeholders and visit real-life manifestations of policy. A small group of up to 15 select participants will ensure personal exchange and an experience tailored to individualized needs.

Site visits, meetings and presentations will include projects related to:

  • Renewable energy
  • Flexible electricity supply, grids and energy storage
  • Sustainable transport
  • Energy efficiency

Topics will include:

  • Legal frameworks and regulations
  • Energy research
  • Implementation of energy strategies
  • Current and future challenge

Please see the draft agenda for further information.

The delegation trip is supported by Germany's Energy Dialogue and organized by the German American Chamber of Commerce (GACC) in New York and the Renewables Academy (RENAC) in Berlin. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) will cover accommodation costs, transportation in Germany and select meals. There is no participant fee.
