Date: June 10, 2019
Time: 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM EDT

Event Description:

Despite the constant flow of headlines about harassment in American workplaces, many employers are working behind the scenes to increase diversity and educate employees on respect and inclusion. Implicit bias - the attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions without our conscious knowledge - has thus become a “hot topic,” with many companies devoting full- or multi-day sessions to raising awareness of individual biases, providing tools to manage and prevent such biases from impacting workplaces and workplace decisions. This seminar will briefly explore implicit bias, particularly related to the hiring process, and conduct a short mock interview, which will explore the types of biases that may arise based on a candidate’s presentation and specific characteristics. The goal is to raise awareness of the role and impact of implicit bias, even at the early stages of the employment relationship.
